WALL OF SILENCE...

Looking Up At This Tall Wall,
Wondering If Anyone Will Give Me a Call.
I Want to Climb Up to See What is There,
But All I Can Do Is Just Stand There and Stare.
My Feet Firmly Planted On The Soft Ground,
As I Continue To Wait For a Rumble of Sound.
My Mind is Ticking Over Thinking What To Do,
I Want To Be On The Other Side,
And Discover Something New.
Gazing Up At This Tall Wall,
Cracks Are Appearing Even Though They Are Small.
Light is Coming Through But I Cannot Quite See,
But Still No Sound That Stands in Front Of Me.
A Wall Of Confusion With a Story To Tell,
Of Dark Hidden Secrets From This Wall Of Hell.
Three Birds Now Land On The Wall,
But They Are Not Singing Their Native Call.
What is Happening? What is Going On?
When These Birds Are Not Singing Their Favourite Song.
The Cracks Are Getting Bigger,
As More Light Is Shining Through,
Now The Birds Begin To Fly Away Off To Pastures New.
Is That Writing Now On The Wall?
With Names and Dates So Carefully Scrawled.
Painted In Red, Black and Green,
Of These Hidden Secrets That Now Can Be Seen.
Is This The Writing On The Wall,
Has The Time Come Now For These Bricks To Fall.
This Wall Of Silence Is Now Making Sounds,
Shaking And Rumbling To Meet The Ground.
Nervous About What I Am Going To See,
As I Start To Step Back For My Own Safety.
I Thought I Came Up Against A Brick Wall,
But Seconds Later It Begins To Fall.
A Fog Of Dust Replaces The Wall,
Again I Cannot See,
And Even Though This Wall Has Gone,
It Stays Silent, Still and Eerie.
Will It Be Different On The Other Side,
As More Light Starts Pushing Through,
Is This The Beginning Of A New Life,
Is This The Start Of Something New.
The History That Was In Front Of Me,
Will Always Linger Here,
Broken Up Into Many Pieces,
Where People Lived In Fear.
But The Date Will Always Stay In My Mind,
One Day One Month One Year,
The 9th of November 1989,
Where Crowds All Cried A Tear.
